Still on the Sauce

Sooooo…giving up the sauce isn’t going so well.

I have been drinking less…sort of…but I have definitely not abstained from all drinking.  On one hand my brain is saying “Screw it, it is the holidays!” and on the other hand my brain is saying “Oh look, something else you can’t do”.

But there is just so much socializing to be done and I guess I like to socialize with a drink.  It doesn’t need to be more than one, but at least one.  Plus it is much easier than announcing, “Nope, still not pregnant.  Just not drinking.  Seriously.  Yes, I am serious. ”

So I don’t know what to do.  I would like to stop beating myself up though.

  1. Just being nosy, but I would try again after the holidays. It’s one thing to do something hard; it’s another to do something hard at the hardest possible time of year! In January, when everyone is working toward new resolutions, your glass of delicious ice water at the cocktail party will make a lot more sense.

  2. Everything in moderation. There is healthy benefits to drinking a little wine. I’m not a drinker at all and actually think it all tastes awful but I don’t think there is anything wrong when you enjoy things in moderation 🙂

  3. I also think that waiting until after the holidays may yield a different result. You’re right now around the trigger all the time. Perhaps keeping it in moderation now and stepping back in two weeks will be easier.

  4. I agree the holidays are always a difficult time to stop drinking. Sometimes it works to ease into it rather than stopping cold turkey. Good luck and enjoy the holidays!

  5. Definitely don’t beat yourself up about this. I’m another agreeing that in the New Year might be a better time to do this. So in the meantime, cheers!
